Ingredients:

  • 400g sweet mincemeat
  • 1 Bramley apple, peeled and grated
  • 25g breadcrumbs
  • zest half lemon & orange
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 400g sweet pastry
  • Tims Dairy Greek style Vanilla yogurt (we recommend lots!!)

Equipment:

  • 35 x 10cm tart case/tin

Method:

Pre-heat the oven to 180C fan.  Grease the base of the tart case/tin.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pastry to the thickness of a £1 coin, then use to line the loose-bottomed tart case. Place in the fridge for 30 mins until well chilled. Reserve the remaining pastry.

Next combine the mincemeat, grated apple, breadcrumbs, lemon juice and zest. Set to one side.

Prick the base of the tart case with a fork, line with baking parchment and fill with baking beans or uncooked rice. Bake for 12 mins, then remove the baking beans and parchment and cook for 6 mins more.

Spoon the mincemeat filling into the pastry case/tin. Roll out the remaining pastry and stamp out 3 different sized stars.  (You can download images from the internet and then cut out to use as a template). Arrange the stars on the tart. Return to the oven for 30 mins until bubbling at the edges. Serve warm with Tims Dairy Greek style Vanilla yogurt.
